The College of Engineering (COE) at UC Berkeley is recognized for its educational and research excellence. The Industrial Engineering and Operations Research Department (IEOR) offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees, and two professional master's programs - Master of Engineering (MEng) and Master of Analytics. The department has strong ties with other UC Berkeley departments and is involved in research across healthcare, supply chains, energy, security, finance, and e-commerce.

The Industrial Engineering & Operations Research Graduate Student Affairs Office is recruiting up to ten Readers to assist the Admissions Committee in reviewing applications for our professional master’s programs. The role requires 10-20 hours per week, with training sessions on campus and remote application review. The appointment is part-time, Limited Term, beginning approximately two weeks in mid‑January 2027 with potential re‑appointment in subsequent years.

Application Review Date
Applications will be reviewed on a continuous basis until openings are filled.

Review and evaluate approximately 120 applications.

Examine applicants’ undergraduate and/or graduate transcripts, resume and work experience, letters of recommendation, essays, and standardized test scores.

Consult with experienced staff or faculty when reviewing more complex applications.

Review admissions training materials and become familiar with prerequisite courses and equivalents.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

This range considers factors such as experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, internal equity, and other organizational needs. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $29.31 to $39.85 hourly for a part‑time (10-20 hours per week), Limited Term appointment. This position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement between UAW (United Auto Workers) and the University of California Regents for SV.

This is a designated position requiring fingerprinting and a background check due to the nature of the job responsibilities. Berkeley does hire people with conviction histories and reviews information received in the context of the job responsibilities.
