SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday Friday, as needed between 6:00 AM 10:00 PM, for 120 workdays annually. Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.
Must provide verification of credentials (education, current licensor/status competency, continuing medical education).
Provide direct patient care services in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards through the evaluation of patients and therapeutic treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staff
Perform nursing duties within the scope of the current licensure
Administer medications as prescribed i.e., Monitor and evaluate the response to therapy
Perform skin testing
Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services
Take medical histories, examine patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays
Policy Screen laboratory tests/results for normal/abnormal lad values and notify the physician or physicians
Ensure all sharps are secured, accounted for, stored and disposed of according to institutional and national policy
Adhere to infection control policies and procedures
Attend to medical emergencies
Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans
Assist in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to delivery of the health care services
Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick-call; which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician
Perform duties as required, but accept only those nursing assignments that are commensurate with his/her educational preparation, training, experience, and licensure laws
Prepare medical documentation for transferring inmates/patients.
