Job Description
Summary of Position: Great beer might bring people to the backyard, but great food gives them another reason to stay. Our Line Cooks are at the heart of the Crooked Hammock kitchen, preparing the food our guests come back for and keeping things moving when the restaurant gets busy. As a Line Cook, you'll work across our kitchen stations to prepare, cook and plate menu items with consistency, quality and attention to detail. You'll learn our recipes, know what a great plate should look like and work alongside the rest of the kitchen team to make sure every dish leaving the line is something we're proud to serve. We're looking for people who enjoy working with food, thrive in a fast-paced kitchen and understand that a strong service takes the whole team. Whether you're working the grill, fryer, sauté or jumping over to help another station through a rush, you'll play an important role in creating the food and experiences that make a day at the Hammock worth coming back for. The Backyard is Calling!
Duties & Responsibilities:

Prepare, cook and plate Crooked Hammock menu items according to established recipes, portions and presentation standards
Work across assigned kitchen stations including grill, sauté, fry, oven and other cooking areas
Prepare meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other ingredients using proper cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
Take pride in the quality, consistency and presentation of every dish you prepare
Learn and maintain knowledge of menu items, recipes, ingredients and preparation methods
Properly portion, season, marinate, bread and prepare ingredients for service
Follow plating and garnish standards so every dish leaves the kitchen looking and tasting its best
Set up and stock assigned stations with everything needed for a smooth service
Monitor product levels throughout the shift and restock or communicate prep needs before running low
Properly label, date, store and rotate food products following food safety and quality standards
Maintain a clean, organized and sanitary workstation throughout the shift
Follow all food safety, sanitation and kitchen procedures
Communicate with fellow cooks, Expeditors and kitchen leadership to keep orders moving accurately and efficiently
Stay organized and focused during high-volume service while maintaining quality and consistency
Jump in to support other stations and teammates when needed
Assist with food preparation and production during slower periods
Properly clean and maintain cooking equipment, refrigeration and work areas
Complete assigned opening, closing and cleaning responsibilities
Work together with the entire kitchen team to keep service running smoothly and create food our guests are excited to come back for

Qualifications:

• 1-3 years full-service restaurant kitchen experience preferred;
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be eligible to work in the United States
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
• Must possess strong understanding of cooking methods & procedures, and knife handling skills
• Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
• Ability to read & follow cooking directions and other instructions pertaining to the position
• Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
• Basic written & verbal communication skills
• Must be organized with a self-starter & motivated work ethic
• Must be a team player
• Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, lift, and carry heavy materials up to 50lbs
