Consumer Loan OfficerAlternatives FCU is seeking a Consumer Loan Officer to join our Lending Team. Alternatives is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) credit union serving Tompkins and surrounding counties, and is proud to find solutions for those left behind by the mainstream financial institutions. This mission is rooted in a deep commitment to equity and justice.The Consumer Loan Officer serves as a trusted financial partner, helping members access responsible lending solutions while building long-term financial wellness. This role combines education, coaching, and consumer lending expertise to empower members to achieve greater financial stability, overcome barriers to credit access, and work toward their personal and financial goals. The Consumer Loan Officer is responsible for underwriting and processing consumer loans in accordance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements while maintaining a strong commitment to member service, financial inclusion, and community impact. Strong technical expertise in loan underwriting, credit analysis, and loan processing will be prioritized, along with the ability to manage detailed documentation, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain audit-ready loan files. Exposure working or volunteering with social justice organizations, community development groups, CDFIs, or other organizations supporting our target market, including low income and BIPOC communities is a plus. This is a full-time, in-office position at the Ithaca Branch.
