Job Overview
Under the general direction of the Senior Psychologist / Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker I, the Clinical Counselor works in Mental Health Services. The Clinical Counselor applies counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques within the scope of applicable Business and Professions Code(s) and license to improve an incarcerated individual’s mental health and the effectiveness of preventative skills and behaviors developed for wellness. They work preventatively with the incarcerated population, including those not in the mental health delivery system, to provide access, outreach, and prevention wellness strategies.

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time.

Facility: Pleasant Valley State Prison.

Responsibilities

Apply counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques as per licensing and legal codes.

Improve incarcerated individuals’ mental health and facilitate development of preventative skills.

Provide mental health access, outreach, and prevention wellness strategies to the incarcerated population.

Minimum Requirements

Possession of a current/valid license as Clinical Counselor in California.

Possession of a valid Associate Professional Clinical Counselor license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science (desirable).

Relevant education or equivalency as required by the California Board of Behavioral Science.

Benefits & Incentives

Eligibility for a $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend under specific criteria (remaining employed with CCHCS for six months).

Eligibility for a monthly recruitment and retention differential during the first year totaling $20,000 under specific criteria.

Potential referral bonus of $5,000 for California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation or CCHCS employees who remain employed for 90 days.
