Ultrasonographer - The Health Plan

Job Overview Under general supervision, the candidate will operate advanced, multi‑modality ultrasound equipment to obtain high‑quality diagnostic images of OBGYN patients, with a focus on perinatal medicine procedures. They will position patients, adjust equipment settings, perform and document ultrasounds, and record preliminary findings to assist physicians. This position is located in Towson, MD.
Responsibilities Position patients and adjust equipment settings for each examination.
Perform and document ultrasound diagnostic tests, ensuring diagnostic quality.
Record preliminary findings to assist in physician interpretations.
Guide physicians during invasive procedures.
Perform advanced Doppler exams (umbilical artery, middle cerebral artery, ductus venosus).
Perform 3D/4D exams.
Ensure clear communication and accurate documentation in writing or typing.
Contribute to a healing environment and protect patient privacy.
Physical Requirements Stand and walk for up to 80% of the work time, position patients up to 20% of the time.
Push, pull, and handle equipment up to 200lbs.
Lift and carry up to 50lbs; frequently 25lbs; continuously up to 10lbs.
Perform repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity.
Balance, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, squat, reach, and lift floor‑to‑waist and overhead positions continuously.
Visual acuity sufficient for reading printed materials and computer screens.
Adequate hearing to communicate in person, by telephone, and to hear alarms.
Communicate clearly in person and over the telephone; document accurately.
Education & Certifications Completion of a one‑year ultrasound training program at an approved school of diagnostic imaging, or a minimum of three to five years of supervised on‑the‑job training.
MFM (Maternal‑Fetal Medicine) experience required.
Licenses/Certifications: CPR Certification, Nuchal Translucency Certification (required), RDMS OBGYN (required), Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
Qualifications & Skills 3‑5 years of experience performing advanced Doppler exams.
3‑5 years of experience performing 3D/4D exams.
3‑5 years of experience guiding physicians during invasive procedures.
3‑5 years of experience in perinatal sonography.
Proven skills in critical and conceptual thinking with thorough knowledge of fetal anatomy.
Pay Range $33.06 - $54.22 per hour, final salary based on qualifications, experience, and alignment with organizational needs.
