Position Description The Operations Manager is responsible for the general management and performance of a special crop processing facility—including processing, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations—to ensure the most efficient, cost‑effective and safe use of labor and equipment. The manager works with the team to pursue operational goals while maintaining quality and efficiencies.
Qualifications Primary Duties and Responsibilities Engage as a project leader with strong team skills.
Continuously improve manufacturing processes and methods to generate improved plant performance, workflow optimization and efficiencies.
Manage and oversee daily records of the receiving, grading, binning, cleaning, processing, blending and shipping of products, ensuring optimal use of facility space and equipment to meet shipping commitments.
Coordinate effectively with Merchandising and Transportation logistics to maximize throughput and profitability, maintaining an up‑to‑date understanding of end‑use requirements to plan for and meet specifications.
Monitor overall receiving and shipping to avoid long line‑ups, demurrage on railcars, containers and trucks.
Collect, monitor and analyze facility operations data to anticipate potential problems and recommend solutions and/or prevention activities.
Pull product samples and send them to local grain offices for quality analysis.
Partner with inbound logistics to ensure the proper quality and quantity of product arrives at the facility as needed.
Manage inventory and materials.
Maintain general housekeeping and upkeep of the working area, including sanitation.
Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed and in compliance with HACCP and applicable SQF programs.
Have open availability to work a flexible schedule when production requires, including the ability to work at different area facilities and extended shift hours.
Foster a team environment of continuous improvement in health and safety, business process and a positive company culture.
Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented by successful completion of an Agribusiness certificate.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment (preferred).
Proven leadership and experience managing a plant with 50+ employees.
Demonstrated project management and process improvement management skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
