RN - PRN - Surgery Care

The J6-1 Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute and provides care to post‑open heart surgery patients and telemetry patients who have undergone innovative and cardiac procedures, such as valve replacement/repair, aneurysm repair, Maze, radiofrequency ablation, pulmonary vein isolation, pacemaker and defibrillator implant/removal and robotic assisted surgery. A caregiver in this position works variable shifts, from 7:00 am—7:30 pm or 7:00 pm—7:30 am.

Provide direct nursing care.

Implement and monitor patient care plans.

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience.

Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but after orientation/90‑day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval.

Will consider military RN experience.

Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
