Inventory Planning and Purchasing Buyer

ExperiencedJob Location: Simi Valley Plant - SImi Vallely, CA 93063Position Type: Full-TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeSalary Range: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 Salary/yearJob Shift: Chatsworth Products (CPI) is seeking a driven Buyer to support the efficient procurement of materials and services that fuel our operations. In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams and trusted suppliers to manage purchase orders, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality materials. The Buyer plays an important role in maintaining cost effectiveness, supplier relationships, and operational continuity while contributing to CPI’s commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Independently analyzes demand, decides quantity to buy and negotiates purchases of inventory materials up to $25k per MRP.

Places PO’s for inventory and non-inventory items and follows up as required to assure an adequate material supply.

Ensures an uninterrupted supply of material while maximizing inventory turns.

Resolves quality and delivery problems.

Evaluates suppliers and provides feedback to improve performance, especially in the areas of lead time, on-time delivery, delivered cost, terms, and quality.

Develops and maintains long term relationships with key suppliers such that we are viewed as an excellent customer worthy of preferential treatment.

Develops a sense of part ownership that includes concern for inventory accuracy and inventory obsolescence and a feel for potential problems.

Interpersonal Skills - Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, effectively building collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Priority Setting, Planning & Organizing- Uses resources effectively and efficiently.

BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.

Three (3) years relevant work experience using MRP applications.

Knowledge of production and procurement procedures.

Knowledge of federal, state and local procurement laws and regulations.

Word processing and spreadsheet application (Microsoft Office preferred).

Physical/Environmental Requirements Frequent sitting.
