Head of Health and Safety

CalPortland is seeking a Safety Manager for the Bay Area to oversee, support, and continuously improve safety programs across multiple ready-mix and batch plant locations. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures, developing and delivering safety training, coaching employees on safe work practices, conducting site-level safety reviews, and partnering with managers and operations leaders to promote safe, compliant, and consistent operations throughout the assigned area.At CalPortland, we’re proud to offer a comprehensive, competitive benefits package that provides health and financial support to our most important resources: our employees. Perform and document site inspections, employee safety meetings, new hire safety orientations, job hazard analysis and safety committee meetings
Perform filing of required safety reporting.
Prepare safety reports for management outlining trends for motor vehicle accidents, near misses, first aid injuries, and medically treated injuries.
Oversee annual chemical inventory at each plant location and assist in maintaining Safety Data Sheets.
Conduct internal onsite inspections to ensure safety and health requirements are maintained in accordance to state and federal regulations and company safety policies and programs
Train employees and supervisors in best safety practices, policies and procedures
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or equivalent preferredRequirements/Qualifications

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, i.e., Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Must be organized, willing to travel locally and work flexible hours

Prior work experience in an industrial, building materials, or construction environment.
EMT training a plus
Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
