38.76 - $52.33 The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
The Sign Language Interpreter provides interpreting services for all clinical and professional University of Rochester Medical Center Staff, patients, and caregivers. Settings include inpatient, ambulatory, video, and emergency environments.
Outside of office hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm- in collaboration with team interpreter:
Understands language as an expression of culture, recognizes the underlying assumptions of each party, including the interpreter, about the encounter, its content and context; Facilitates building of rapport between patient and provider through bridging cultures.
Directs patients to appropriate hospital resouces (social worker, financial case manager, care coordinator, etc).
Within office hours of Monday-Friday 8am-5pm: Maintains and documents certification as applicable.
Administrative Duties:
Completes mandatory education, health updates, and administrative duties in a timely manner.
Adheres to all hospital, department, and program policies and procedures.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• 2 years post-high school education required.
• Fluency in English and ASL required

RID, NAD, BEI level II (Written required, performance within 18 months of hire) required.
