Physician - Hospitalist - Up all night? Nocturnist Positions

Job Summary A hospital-based physician who works overnight only. Nocturnists are typically trained in internal medicine, but can be from psychiatry or family medicine. This position works on a shift-based schedule and does not accrue PTO or CME days.

Job Duties Interview patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories.

Perform and/or interpret diagnostic tests as needed.

Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness.

Prescribe or administer medications as necessary.

Prepare, maintain, and review records including patients’ histories, examination findings, treatment plans, and outcomes.

Work in a clinical and office environment.

Ensure compliance with all organization policies and procedures.

Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) – required.

Licensed Medical Doctor – State of Pennsylvania.

Required Skills Patient care and procedural skills.

Professional etiquette.

Systems‑based practice.

Additional Competencies Initial orientation will include department‑specific orientation essential for performance in the role.
