Lecturer AY - Liberal Studies Job No: 557448 Work Type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary / Lecturer Location: Pomona Position The temporary faculty pool position is filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may be required to begin teaching on short notice. Teaching terms are Fall (late August to mid December), Spring (mid January to mid May), and Summer Sessions may also be available. The role is part of the Department of Liberal Studies, which provides interdisciplinary education for undergraduate teachers and students with a focus on student‑centered, experiential learning, including discussion‑based and service‑learning courses. Instruction focuses on developing critical thinking and academic proficiency across the arts, humanities, and social and natural sciences, with a commitment to inclusivity and equity. Responsibilities Teach assigned division courses in the department's curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on the assigned teaching unit load. Deliver courses in formats including in‑person, hybrid synchronous, synchronous, and asynchronous, and ensure timely access to classroom and campus resources. Prepare and manage course materials, assessments, and student evaluations in accordance with department standards. Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and instructional technology activities as required. Required Qualifications Terminal Master's Degree, Ed.D., or Ph.D., including ABD candidates in an academic discipline or interdisciplinary studies. Evidence of at least four non‑consecutive terms of recent undergraduate teaching competency using an interdisciplinary approach. Evidence of proven ability to teach using active and experiential learning, critical theory, and social justice pedagogy. Preferred Qualifications Evidence of building community in the classroom and strong rapport with students. Strong command of instructional technology (Canvas, social media, iPad, etc.). Ability to teach in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and asynchronous modalities. Strong collegiality and willingness to collaborate with colleagues. Demonstrated ability to assess teaching and learning effectiveness, incorporate feedback, and revise instruction accordingly. Salary and Benefit Information Initial appointments are for one semester. Base salaries vary by rank and qualifications: Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677 per month Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224 per month Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523 per month Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211 per month The CSU system offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and tuition assistance.
