We're looking for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys solving problems, managing multiple priorities, and taking ownership of their work. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, works well independently, and is committed to producing accurate, high-quality financial information.**What You'll Do:*** Prepare and post month-end journal entries while ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in the appropriate accounting period.* Reconcile bank accounts and balance general ledger accounts to maintain accurate financial records.* Review and analyze financial statements, balance sheet accounts, and supporting schedules to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.* Perform cash transactions and reconciliations while maintaining strong internal controls.* Review Accounts Payable invoices for accurate general ledger coding and ensure expenses are assigned to the appropriate accounts.* Assist with monthly financial reporting, annual audit preparation, cost reports, and budgeting activities.* Analyze financial activity, research variances, and recommend solutions to resolve discrepancies.* Utilize Workday and other accounting software to process cash, general ledger, and financial transactions.* Successfully manage multiple priorities and a diverse workload while consistently meeting deadlines.* Work independently with strong initiative while collaborating effectively with the Finance team and other departments.**Requirements:*** **Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting**, Finance, or a related field **or** 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience demonstrating equivalent knowledge and skills.* Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); nonprofit accounting experience preferred.* Experience preparing journal entries, balancing general ledger accounts, reconciling cash and bank accounts, and analyzing financial statements.* Experience reviewing general ledger coding and ensuring the accuracy of Accounts Payable transactions.* Ability to analyze accounting data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues through effective problem-solving.* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize work, and adapt to changing business needs.* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and maintaining confidentiality.* Workday experience preferred, but not required.* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, vendors, and leadership.**Benefits:*** Continuing Education Opportunities* Tuition and Student Loan reimbursement* (Full-time) Health, Dental, and Vision insurance* Flexible PTO* 401k Match* Wellness Reimbursement* Employee Assistance Program* And much more!*If you, or someone you know, would be a good fit for this opportunity within Western Home Communities- we would love to talk!*Western Home Communities is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC).
