Boiler Plant Operator Supervisor

Summary The Boiler Plant Foreman is responsible for Boiler Plant Operations for the Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Livermore divisions. Plant operations run 24‑hour a day, seven days a week, and affect every area of the Health Care System. Qualifications Applicants must have evidence of training or experience sufficient to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Experience may be paid or unpaid, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations. Physical requirements include good coordination, ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, crawl, pull, push, reach, and lift supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a range of environmental conditions (heat, cold, humidity, dust, fumes, grease, etc.) is required. Glasses are permitted. Duties Participates in Budget Planning and Energy Management processes – advises Engineering Service Management on utility requirements and needs. Provides accurate estimates of utility consumption and costs for current and future fiscal periods. Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week‑to‑week and month‑to‑month basis. Schedules, coordinates, and directs all work and projects done by all trade units. Develops, reviews, and evaluates the unit's written production records to determine and adjust to proper progress and efficiency. Oversees the work of contractors and other trade specialists to ensure compliance with the terms of the contract. Prepares and recommends all personnel actions – including promotions, reassignments, and disciplinary actions. Determines unit's training needs and establishes schedules. Performs duties as Boiler Plant Operator on an as‑needed basis in any of the boiler plants during weekends, rotating shifts, or in an overtime status.
