TheDirectorofEthicsprovidessystem-wideleadershipfortheEthicsProgramacrossEmoryHealthcare (EHC),includinghospitalsandambulatorysites.IncollaborationwithEHCleadershipandtheOfficeofQuality,thisroleisresponsibleforthedevelopment,implementation,andoversightofacomprehensiveEthicsprogramthatsupportshigh-quality,compassionate,andethicallygroundedpatientcare.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ethics Program Leadership & Strategy
Leadandoverseeasystem-wideEthicsconsultationserviceacrossEmoryHealthcare.
Maintainresponsibilityforoverallprogramleadership,strategy,andoperationaloversight.
Alignethicsinitiativeswiththemission,vision,andstrategicprioritiesofEmoryHealthcare.
Driveinnovationandcontinuousimprovementinethicsprogramdelivery.
Clinical Ethics Consultation
Provideformalandinformalethicsconsultationsacrossthehealthsystem.
Serveastheconsultantofrecordforcomplex,high-risk,orethicallychallengingcases.
Supportandguideotherethicistsindeliveringconsistent,high-qualityconsultationservices.
Maintainactiveclinicalethicspracticeasacoreresponsibility.
Program Development, Innovation & Systems Integration
Supportongoingdevelopmentandenhancementofthesystem-wideEthicsconsultationservice.
Track,evaluate,andreportontheimpactofethicsconsultations.
Integrateethicsworkflowsanddocumentationwithintheelectronicmedicalrecord (EMR)system.
People Leadership & Talent Development
Supervise,mentor,anddevelopclinicalethicistsandrelatedstaff.
Provideperformancemanagement,coaching,andprofessionaldevelopmentopportunities.
Fosteracollaborativeandhigh-performingteamenvironment.
Education & Professional Development
Developanddeliverethicseducationprogramsacrossthehealthsystem.
Leadmultidisciplinaryeducationinitiatives,includingEthicsGrandRounds.
Promoteongoinglearningandawarenessofethicalstandardsandpractices.
Policy, Governance & Organizational Ethics
Leadthedevelopment,review,andimplementationofethics-relatedpolicies,protocols,andguidelines.
Provideethicsconsultationandguidancefororganizationaldecision-makingandsystem-levelinitiatives.
Ensurealignmentwithregulatory,legal,andorganizationalstandards.
Committees & Cross- Functional Collaboration
Coordinateandsupporthospital-basedEthicsCommitteesacrossthesystem.

Participateininterdisciplinaryinitiativestosupportethicalclinicalandoperationalpractices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Master'sordoctoraldegreeinEthicsorarelatedfieldwithafocusonhealthcareethics,clinicalethics,orbioethicsrequired.
Experience
Minimumoffive (5)yearsofprogressivelyresponsibleexperienceinhealthcareandclinicalethics.
Minimumoffive (5)yearsofexperienceprovidingethicsconsultationtopatients,families,andhealthcareteams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstratedexperiencesupervisingclinicalethicistsorsimilarprofessionals.
Advancedexpertiseinclinicalandorganizationalethicswithincomplexhealthcaresystems.
Strongconflictresolution,mediation,andinterdisciplinarycommunicationskills.
Workingknowledgeofhealthlaw,culturalandreligiousconsiderations,andinstitutionalpolicyframeworks.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
Terminaldegree (PhD,MD,JD,orequivalent)inEthicsoracloselyrelatedfieldpreferred.
Certification
HealthcareEthicsConsultationCertification (HEC-C)stronglypreferred.
