Pay Breakdown:

• Weekly Gross: $2,700
• W2: $25/hr.
• OT: $65/Hr.
• Stipend: $1,320 Weekly

Requirements:

• CA State RN license - Required
• Must have trauma, neuro, vascular and ortho experience.
• Minimum 2 year of recent OR RN experience - Required
• Must have done 1 travel assignment.

• Current BLS AHA certifications - Required

   

Job Summary:
We're seeking an experienced Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for a 13-week assignment with a leading healthcare facility. The OR RN provides high-quality perioperative nursing care by preparing the operating room, assisting the surgical team, and advocating for patient safety throughout the surgical process. This role requires expertise in sterile technique, surgical procedures, instrumentation, and patient assessment while collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal surgical outcomes.

 

Duties

• Assess patients before surgery and review medical history, allergies, and surgical consents.
• Prepare the operating room by ensuring equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and functioning properly.
• Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to aseptic and infection prevention standards.
• Circulate during surgical procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon and surgical team.
• Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and surgical site verification.
• Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps before, during, and after procedures.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products as ordered and within the RN scope of practice.
• Monitor patient status throughout the procedure and communicate any changes to the surgical team.
• Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment and specialty devices as needed.
• Document perioperative care accurately and completely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and PACU staff to ensure seamless patient care.
• Assist with specimen handling and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
• Support patient safety initiatives, including time-outs, infection prevention, and quality improvement protocols.
• Provide preoperative and postoperative patient education when appropriate.
• Adhere to hospital policies, AORN guidelines, and all regulatory and accreditation standards while delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based perioperative care.
