Sr. Director, Learn Business Leader

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Director, Learn Business Leader based in the United States.

As Sr. Director, Learn Business Leader, you will lead a client-facing, revenue-generating learning solutions business serving pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences organizations. You will translate business priorities into execution plans that drive profitable growth, margin expansion, client success, and scalable operations. The role combines commercial leadership, learning expertise, digital innovation, and operational discipline in a fast-evolving industry environment. You will modernize the portfolio through AI-enabled learning, adaptive experiences, digital coaching, simulations, microlearning, and learning analytics. You will partner closely with sales, clients, finance, and cross-functional teams to win new business and expand strategic relationships. As a senior leader, you will also build organizational capability, develop talent, and establish the operating model needed to scale a differentiated learning solutions business.

Accountabilities:

• Own execution of the learning business plan, including revenue growth, margin performance, operating milestones, resource planning, forecasting, and measurable business outcomes.
• Translate strategic priorities into actionable plans and operating rhythms, using financial data, pipeline insights, client feedback, and market intelligence to continuously improve performance.
• Drive profitable growth through existing-account expansion, new-logo acquisition, cross-selling, larger opportunities, and stronger client relationships.
• Partner with finance and executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, pricing, staffing models, utilization, investments, and other business performance decisions.
• Collaborate with sales and business development teams to qualify opportunities, develop proposals, shape solutions, and position learning offerings as differentiated client solutions.
• Act as a senior thought partner in strategic pursuits, solution design sessions, client presentations, and high-value account expansion opportunities.
• Develop value propositions, case studies, packaged offerings, and sales enablement materials that improve the consistency and speed of business development.
• Identify opportunities to integrate learning solutions with broader medical, commercial, market access, communications, and intelligence capabilities to increase client value.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior clients and relevant industry stakeholders.
• Modernize and operationalize the learning portfolio, emphasizing scalable digital offerings, AI-enabled products, microlearning, repeatable delivery models, and technology-enabled learning experiences.
• Pilot and scale innovative approaches such as AI-powered role play, virtual coaching, adaptive learning, simulations, automated content development, and digital reinforcement.
• Evaluate, select, and implement learning technologies and platforms that improve learner engagement, content development speed, delivery quality, scalability, and measurable outcomes.
• Establish a practical approach to generative AI and emerging learning technologies, balancing innovation with compliance, quality, security, and client requirements.
• Define and implement methods for measuring learning effectiveness, client outcomes, business impact, and program ROI.
• Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery from solution design and project launch through implementation, facilitation, measurement, and post-program follow-up.
• Establish clear delivery standards, operating rhythms, governance practices, handoff protocols, and role clarity across the learning organization and its partners.
• Balance client commitments with capacity planning, profitability, resource utilization, contractor management, and quality expectations.
• Identify and remove operational bottlenecks that restrict scalability, speed, client satisfaction, or margin performance.
• Build a disciplined client-success model based on clear expectations, proactive communication, issue resolution, scope management, and post-program evaluation.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team spanning learning design, digital learning, AI-enabled product delivery, facilitation, technology, project management, client delivery, and operations.
• Strengthen organizational expertise across medical, commercial, leadership, digital learning, AI-enabled coaching, analytics, technology-enabled delivery, and client engagement.
• Foster a culture centered on commercial orientation, client service, accountability, innovation, collaboration, and operational ownership.
• Partner across the broader organization to support integrated opportunities and contribute to enterprise-wide strategic priorities.
• Make thoughtful decisions around organizational structure, staffing, contractor utilization, professional development, succession planning, and long-term capability building.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in learning solutions, medical or commercial training, digital learning, AI-enabled learning products, life sciences consulting, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience owning or significantly influencing revenue, margins, budgets, forecasting, operational performance, and business planning.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical affairs, commercial, and/or broader life sciences operating environments.
• Proven track record of developing, selling, scaling, or delivering client-facing learning, training, coaching, consulting, or capability-building solutions.
• Strong knowledge of digital learning ecosystems, including AI-enabled learning tools, learning management platforms, learner analytics, content authoring technologies, virtual coaching, simulations, and scalable digital delivery models.
• Experience partnering with sales or business development organizations on proposals, client presentations, strategic pursuits, and account expansion.
• Ability to combine strategic business leadership with hands-on execution, translating priorities into measurable results in a growing and evolving organization.
• Strong financial acumen, executive presence, client-facing communication skills, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading distributed teams and managing contractors, external facilitators, or other flexible delivery resources is preferred.
• Strong understanding of change management, including building alignment, communicating the rationale for change, anticipating resistance, and ensuring new approaches are adopted and sustained.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and apply emerging technologies, particularly generative AI, adaptive learning, content automation, and AI-enabled coaching.
• Strong business ownership mindset with the ability to create clarity, accountability, scalable processes, and measurable outcomes.
• Excellent relationship-building, communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in a client-facing environment where commercial results, quality, innovation, and delivery excellence must be balanced.
• Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree in business, life sciences, education, organizational development, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a primarily remote environment and collaborate with distributed teams and clients.
