Global Trade Controls Specialist - Millennium Space Systems

Job Description Millennium Space Systems, part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, is an agile small satellite company focused on national security space. Its missions directly impact global security through missile warning and Earth observation. Position: Global Trade Controls Specialist (Trade Controls Specialist, Level3). The role is onsite at the El Segundo, CA office. Position Responsibilities Process supplier requests, denied party screenings, visitor approvals and technical data reviews. Conduct jurisdiction, product classification and HTS/ScheduleB analysis for products, software and related technology. Consult with internal and external partners to ensure compliant handling of all international efforts. Communicate procedural changes via email, training and other communication vehicles. Develop and conduct audits of internal controls and procedures to ensure compliant transactions. Support external audits and inquiries from U.S. control agencies such as the Department of State and Department of Commerce. Serve as subject‑matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of the job area. Communicate within and outside the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Make significant improvements in processes, systems or products to enhance performance. Provide guidance, coaching and training to employees across the company in the area of expertise. Educate others on GTC practices and changes to concepts, practices and approaches. Perform other duties as assigned by the GTC manager. Basic Qualifications Minimum five years of related work experience in export and import controls, supplier reviews or related activities. Knowledge of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills and phone etiquette. Ability to work within a team and foster teamwork and trust from internal and external customers. Ability to obtain U.S. security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or certification. Background in import/export regulations, compliance, classifications, licensing and exemptions, commodity jurisdiction requests and technology control plans. Technical background in jurisdiction and classifications for hardware, software and technology. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a time‑sensitive environment. Ability to work across multiple functional departments and organizations. Conflict of Interest Successful candidates must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process. Export Control Requirements Position requires U.S. export control compliance and a U.S. Person definition (U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee or asylee). Security Clearance Requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; an interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post‑Start is required.
