Accounting Technician

The Kuskokwim Corporation is seeking an Accounting Technician to ensure the execution of various accounting and reporting activities, focusing primarily on the Accounts Payable transaction cycle, and assisting with other duties to ensure accurate financial transaction posting, and financial reporting. The Accounting Technician is typically concerned with the day to day accounting functions and practices of the company and ensures such practices are in accordance with GAAP. This position will be in our Anchorage, AK office.

Primary Responsibilities

• Accounts payable, including assisting Senior Accountant with verification of proper approvals and coding of invoices, entering invoices, reconciling vendor accounts, performing check runs, and interacting with vendors
• Reconciling and paying credit cards monthly
• Coordinating with Payroll to ensure all payroll tax and benefit payments are recorded in the accounting system and paid.
• Maintaining an electronic filing system for Accounts Payable, and paper filing while we transition to a paperless environment
• Assisting with annual external audit preparation
• Assisting Controller and Senior Accountant with month-end duties such as bank reconciliations, and general ledger account reconciliations
• Assisting with ALL accounting duties for some of our smaller related organizations
• Assisting Controller and Senior Accountant with special projects

Education and Qualifications

• Possess at least 2+ years of progressing accounting experience.
• SAGE Intacct software highly preferred.
• This position requires sound communication, technology, and analytical abilities.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to speak clearly and maintain order in confrontational situations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, HRIS systems and ability to learn and use new technologies.
