Step into a dynamic opportunity serving elementary students throughout the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, contract position is set in a supportive educational environment near Staten Island, NY, and offers the chance to make a positive impact on young learners’ growth and success.
Candidates will engage daily with a diverse elementary caseload, collaborating with teachers, families, and special education teams. This role provides a fulfilling blend of direct therapy, assessments, and participation in IEP meetings, all while nurturing students’ independence and functional abilities in and out of the classroom.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Occupational Therapist license for New York
- Previous experience working in schools or with pediatric/student populations preferred
- Familiarity with IEP development, progress reporting, and data documentation
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt therapeutic strategies to meet individual student needs
- Consideration given to both experienced OTs and enthusiastic recent graduates
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess and develop treatment plans for elementary-aged students
- Deliver direct and consultative OT services according to IEPs
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student progress
- Maintain accurate, timely records in compliance with school and district requirements
- Attend IEP meetings and contribute expertise to multidisciplinary teams
- Foster a warm, inclusive environment that encourages student engagement and development
