Patient Care Tech - Progressive Care Unit (PRN - Night) - Jefferson Abington

Overview Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides designated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction and supervision of licensed clinical team members, ensuring a patient- and family-centered approach that meets physical, emotional, and social needs. Responsibilities Communicates with and supports the interprofessional team, patient, family, and designated care partners. Performs validated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction of licensed clinical team members. Actively promotes and maintains a safe patient care environment. Assists in maintaining supplies and equipment to ensure efficient unit operations. Conducts patient rounds, anticipates patient needs, and responds promptly to call lights or pages. May serve as a virtual safety associate as required by campus needs. Facilitates virtual clinical exams, including the use of peripheral devices (e.g., electronic stethoscopes) and technology (e.g., video conferencing equipment, Epic, Vidyo). Ensures comprehensive virtual care encounters. Supports patient transport and may walk 8‑10 miles per shift. Required to perform role-specific activities such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR as necessary. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care needs, including interprofessional teamwork. Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role. Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for patient quality of life. Understanding of patient safety risks and ability to implement preventative measures. Knowledge of respectful communication with diverse patients, families, and care partners. Effective communication skills, including transmission, receipt, and interpretation of information. Proficiency in using partnership language with patients and families. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association. Upon hire, LVHN colleagues must complete the LVHN inexperienced technical partner course. Physical Demands Lift and carry 40‑50 lbs (e.g., push/pull patients on bed or stretcher requiring 29 lbs push force). Perform lateral transfers up to 50 lbs of patient weight. Frequent to continuous standing and walking. Walk 8‑10 miles per shift as a patient transporter. May be required to kneel, bend, squatting, and perform CPR.
