Sheriff's Records Specialist - Shift - Boron

Position Title Sheriff's Records Specialist Location Requirements Work is located in the Boron area. Candidates must be willing to work in Boron and must be willing to travel to this location. Shift Information 5% additional pay for evening shift work; 7.5% additional pay for night shift work. Applicants must be able and willing to work any shift of a 24-hour period and any 5 of 7 days. Examinations Written exam (weight 100%) covering basic office procedures and equipment operation; English language, grammar and punctuation; public relations principles; telephone etiquette; computer and associated word processing including data entry and retrieval of records and other relevant subjects. Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Two years of clerical experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skills to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Certification of typing/keyboarding speed of 45 net words per minute. Valid government issued photographic identification. Additional Requirements Submit a copy of typing or keyboard certificate issued within the last two years verifying speed of 45 net words per minute. Certificates must conform to testing standards adopted by the Civil Service Commission. Character: Applicants must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Felony convictions are disqualifying, and except for a limited number of minor traffic offenses, misdemeanor convictions may be disqualifying. Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation. Appointees will be fingerprinted and required to pass a background investigation. Following an offer, they may be required to submit to post‑offer medical and drug screening tests at county expense.
