Surgical Tech, 36 hours/week, day shift - Labor & Delivery

This is a 24 hour/week position, day shift, including weekend and holiday rotations. As part of the Patient Care Services – Labor & Delivery Team and under the direction of a Registered Nurse and within AORN Standards and Guidelines, the Surgical Technologist performs the following duties: Retrieves and reviews the case cart to ensure all physician‑requested supplies, instruments, and equipment are available and sterile for use in each case. Opens sterile supplies according to aseptic technique in preparation for the surgical procedure. Scrubs for cases according to established sterile procedures, changing into operative clothing, wearing a sterile gown and gloves, and assisting surgeons with the same. Prepares and maintains a surgical field. Assembles equipment and instrumentation based on the surgical procedure. Assists in the surgical procedure, anticipating, planning for, and responding to the needs of the patient, surgeon, and other team members. Efficiently disassembles the sterile field and instrumentation in preparation for decontamination. Performs complete and accurate counting procedures to promote optimal patient outcomes and reduce patient harm. Moves patients and transfers patients to and from stretchers and beds. Assists the surgical team by positioning the patient and retracting tissue and other bodily parts as directed. Follows the chain of command and adheres to hospital policies and procedures. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team utilizing established handoff procedures; gives and accepts respectful feedback to enhance teamwork. Qualifications Required: Graduate of an accredited or US Armed Forces Surgical Technologists school and/or program, or employed as a Surgical Technologist at a surgical facility on or before July 1, 2013. Preferred: At least one year of operating room scrub experience. Pay Range $33.50 – $45.09 per hour. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
