What You'll Do

• Provide bedside care to patients in a Med-Surg/Telemetry unit with a focus on transplant, CHF, COPD, and other common diagnoses
• Monitor cardiac status, including reading EKGs and managing cardiac drips with ACLS skills
• Support patient assessments, medication administration, wound care, and IV therapy
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT, OT, PT, and speech therapists
• Maintain complete and accurate patient documentation in EMR system (Meditech Expanse)
• Assist with patient transfers, charting, and unit float as needed
• Ensure safety and compliance with all hospital and unit policies

What You Need

• Active RN license in Louisiana or license eligible
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 1-year acute care RN experience (2 years for first-time travelers)
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam

• Experience in stroke, transplant, or telemetry units
• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Flexibility with floating and holiday/weekend shifts

About the Assignment This assignment takes place at a major hospital in Bossier City, LA, a facility renowned for stroke and chest-pain care. The unit cares for transplant, medical-surgical, and telemetry patients, with a patient-to-RN ratio of 1:5. The team includes dedicated resources such as RT, OT, PT, and a hospitalist on call overnight, ensuring comprehensive support for staff and patients alike. The schedule includes every other weekend, with the possibility of up to 7 days of time off upon approval.
