Position Summary

Our mission at the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Southern California (RMHCSC) is to provide comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California. RMHCSC operates seven Ronald McDonald Houses and three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, along with Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.

The Family Programs & Resources Manager supports the daily and long-term family care operations of the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House (LARMH) under the supervision of the Director of Family-Centered Care. This role is responsible for advancing family-centered care through the development and oversight of programs, resources, and events that promote a trauma-informed "Continuum of Care" approach — ensuring families navigating a child's medical crisis have access to nourishment, resources, and programming that support the whole family. In addition to overseeing key initiatives such as the Family Resource Center, Meal Program, and Volunteer Program, the Family Programs & Resources Manager plays a vital role in the onboarding and training of Family Care Associates and Coordinators, and as part of the broader Family Centered Care team, participates in the regular on-call rotation to respond to emergencies, manage shift call-outs, and address urgent matters to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the House.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Partner with, and support, Director of Family-Centered Care in the creation of, and oversight of, family programming such as the hospitality cart, House Dog, field trips, family activities and field trips, and more — with a focus on a "Continuum of Care" and trauma-informed approach.
• Assist Director of Family-Centered Care with implementation of adaptive, accessible, and inclusive play spaces and amenities for families, centering on the developmental and emotional wellbeing needs of children and their caregivers.
• Partner with, and support, Director of Family-Centered Care in the operating of the Family Resource Center through managing inventory, assisting with families needing resource support, managing vendor relationships, and preparing for Center events — serving as a key touchpoint in connecting families to wrap-around services and community-based resources.
• Oversee the Family Programs Associate in management of the Family Resource Center's clothing and diaper donation program, ensuring proper sanitization, sorting, distribution, and restocking.
• Oversee and grow all aspects of the Meal Program including Meals of Love, FridgeFull program, Food Rescue Program, and Nutrition on the Go Program — ensuring all families have access to quality nutrition throughout their stay, with particular attention to the significant portion of our population for whom food insecurity is an ongoing reality beyond the House.
• Oversee the Family Programs Associate in day-to-day meal program operations including food inventory management, vendor relationships, menu planning, kitchen operations, and upholding food safety standards.
• Responsible for the overall development and structure of the LARMH volunteer program, supporting the Volunteer Coordinator across all aspects of recruitment, screening, training, supervision, evaluation, and volunteer recognition.
• Oversee the Volunteer Coordinator in day-of execution of Meal Program and Day-of-Service Groups including (but not limited to) group check-in, kitchen and meal (or other activity) set-up, clean-up, and kitchen re-set.
• Onboard, train, and oversee Family Care Associates and Family Care Coordinators as it relates to day-to-day family programs, activities, resource center, and meal program tasks.
• Partner with LARMH Development and Chapter teams to ensure all in-House activations and events are in line with event planning guidelines and that necessary volunteers are recruited and managed by Volunteer Coordinator. Support the LARMH Development and Chapter team when on-site media/activation events take place involving families.
• In partnership with Family Care Manager, develop and maintain family/House relations post-checkout, with a focus on continued family engagement, gathering stories and growing the Family Ambassador Program — supporting families beyond their immediate stay through sustained, relationship-centered outreach.
• Execute broader Family Programming initiatives, including participation in Global Programs, Learning from Families studies, and other key projects that strengthen and support the mission of LARMH.
• Participate in the regular on-call rotation, providing comprehensive support for all aspects of House operations 24/7 during assigned on-call periods, including responding to emergencies, managing shift call-outs, and addressing urgent matters to ensure seamless operations and family care. Maintain reasonable ability to report on-site within 15 minutes of a call during assigned on-call period.
• Attend community-sponsored events benefiting LARMH.
• Participate in speaking engagements and outreach as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Child Life, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field required; Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or partial completion of an MSW program preferred. Experience working in crisis, healthcare, or community-based settings required.

Knowledge and Skills

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers, community partners, and the families we serve — including children facing serious illness and their caregivers. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Food Handlers Manager Training required within first 90 days.

Language, Mathematical, and Computer Skills

Ability to read, write and/or interpret general business documents and correspondence reports, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, families, employees, managers and the general public. Required proficiency Microsoft Office Suite; preferred experience with Canva and Raiser’s Edge.
