Positions in this role ensure claim accuracy and work through specific billing discrepancies. Provide input to policies, systems, methods and procedures for the effective management and control of billing functions.This position is full-time. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00am - 5:00pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.The Billing Representative will be required to successfully complete the UnitedHealth Group new hire training and demonstrate proficiency to continue in the role. We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be aligned with your schedule. Training will be conducted virtually from your home.Primary Responsibilities:Submit primary and secondary claimsResolve billing editsProvide input to policies, systems, methods, and procedures for billing functions.Ensure claim is accurate for processingDemonstrate and maintain understanding of and comply with billing policies and proceduresMake and/or submit changes to claims when applicableAbility to correct bill various insurancesAbility to accurately read and interpret EOBSFollow up with insurance companies on denialsPossess strong analytical and research skillsCommunicates with superiors, peers, employees, internal and external customers, and others, as appropriate, on a regular basis, assuring proper flow of information.Collaborate with team members to ensure continuous improvement in processes.You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear directions on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experienceMust be 18 years of age OR older1+ years of medical billing experienceAbility using computer and Windows PC applications, which includes strong keyboard and navigation skills and ability to learn new computer programsExperience with Microsoft Word (create correspondence and work within templates), Microsoft Excel (data entry, sort / filter, and work within tables) and Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar management)Ability to work an 8-hour shift during our normal business hours of (7:00am - 5:00pm) ESTPreferred Qualifications:1+ year of experience in patient, client, or third-party insurance billing1+ year of hospital collections or billing experienceTelecommuting Requirements:Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.Soft Skills:Previous work experience in a fast-paced environment requiring strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skillsStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to adapt to changes.*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter PolicyPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18 - $32 per hour based on full-time employment.
