About The Opportunity

A busy, beloved neighborhood caf in Brooklyn is seeking a talented and motivated Kitchen Manager/Chef to join a growing daytime caf and catering kitchen. The caf serves a seasonal menu of hot and cold dishes, made-to-order focaccia sandwiches, baked goods, and rotating specials all out of a fully open kitchen. A growing catering and events program gives the kitchen team the opportunity to work on a wide variety of food and experiences beyond the daily caf menu.

This is a role for someone who genuinely loves to cook, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in putting out consistently beautiful, high-quality food.

Approximately 70% of the menu is gluten-free, making allergen awareness and cross-contamination protocols a critical part of this role. The kitchen is fully open to the caf floor, so a warm, guest-facing presence is just as important as culinary skill.

• Professional kitchen experience in a fast-paced environment
• Early morning and weekend availability required
• Strong cooking, knife, and prep skills
• Excellent attention to detail and consistency
• Deep understanding of food allergies, dietary restrictions, and cross-contamination protocols
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient station
• Strong communication skills
• Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working as part of a close-knit team
• Able to follow recipes and direction while also taking ownership of your work
• Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and continue developing
• Flexible, adaptable, and positive during busy service
• Comfortable interacting with guests in an open-kitchen environment
