Fund Accountant

An Investment Management Firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join their team as a Fund Accountant. Responsibilities: Manage the monthly and quarterly close process for assigned funds and investment vehicles, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and GAAP-based NAV calculations. Maintain accurate general ledgers, trial balances, and supporting schedules across a range of investment strategies. Review investment activity, transactions, and cash movements to ensure timely and accurate recording in coordination with internal teams. Perform variance analysis and provide clear insights into key performance drivers for internal stakeholders. Prepare and review capital activity, including investor contributions, distributions, and allocation schedules. Calculate and validate management fees, performance-based incentives, and other fund-level economics in accordance with governing agreements. Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting packages, including supporting documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate the annual audit process, serving as a primary liaison with external auditors. Support regulatory and client reporting requirements, including preparation of financial data for applicable filings. Perform other duties, as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred. 2–4 years of experience in fund accounting, financial reporting, or audit within alternative asset management or public accounting environments. Exposure to complex investment structures and multi-entity environments is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fund accounting concepts, including NAV, allocations, fees, and capital activity. Advanced Excel skills; experience with industry-standard accounting platforms (e.g., Allvue, Investran, eFront, Geneva, or similar) is a plus. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with senior stakeholders.
