Staff Accountant

We're looking for a hands-on Staff Accountant who can own the details, understand how the pieces connect, and help keep our accounting processes moving accurately and on time. This role has a strong emphasis on Accounts Payable , but it is not limited to AP. You'll work across vendor activity, reconciliations, general ledger support, month-end close, expense reporting, and other accounting projects as the business needs them. We're a lean team, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, asking questions when something doesn't make sense, and taking ownership of getting it resolved. What You'll Do Accounting & Month-End Close Support the month-end close process and complete assigned reconciliations accurately and on time. Reconcile accounts payable activity to the general ledger and research aged items, debit balances, receipts not billed, and other discrepancies. Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules as assigned. Review account activity for proper coding and classification and research anything that doesn't look right. Assist with other general ledger reconciliations, account analysis, and close-related responsibilities as needed. Maintain clear supporting documentation for reconciliations and accounting activity. Support audit requests and other accounting projects as assigned. Accounts Payable Review and post vendor bills daily through NetSuite Scan and Capture, confirming vendor, amount, GL coding, PO match, department, and supporting documentation. Process vendor prepayments and ensure they are applied accurately and timely. Enter and post non-inventory purchase orders to support accurate bill matching. Prepare ACH, check, and wire payment proposals for review and approval and help ensure vendors are paid within terms. Respond to vendor statements, payment inquiries, and internal AP requests. Review AP activity for duplicate charges, incorrect coding, missing support, or anything else that requires follow-up. Reconcile vendor statements to NetSuite and resolve discrepancies. Manage vendor return authorizations pending credit and create the related bill credits with appropriate supporting documentation. Review new vendor setup documentation for accuracy and completeness. Follow up on missing information and route completed vendor setup requests for approval. Perform verbal confirmation of banking information for new vendors before payment details are established. Review and approve employee expense reports in accordance with company policy. Reconcile corporate credit card activity and ensure expenses are posted to the appropriate GL accounts. Ensure month-end corporate card liabilities are fully supported and documented. Compile monthly legal expenses once invoices have been recorded and provide reporting as needed. Process Improvement & Special Projects Look for opportunities to make AP and accounting processes more accurate, efficient, and easier to manage. Question inconsistencies rather than simply processing around them. Partner with the broader accounting team to resolve issues and improve how work gets done. Jump into ad hoc accounting projects as priorities shift. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 2-4 years of accounting experience with exposure to accounts payable, reconciliations, general ledger activity, and month-end close. Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and how transactional activity flows through the general ledger. Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills. NetSuite experience preferred, including bill processing, saved searches, PO matching, and general ledger activity. Expensify experience is a plus. High attention to detail and the confidence to question charges, coding, or activity that doesn't make sense. Ability to manage recurring daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities without losing sight of deadlines. Clear, professional communication skills with both internal teams and external vendors. Self-starter who can work independently, take ownership, and adapt quickly when priorities change. Experience in consumer products, distribution, retail, or e-commerce is a plus.
