Middle Grades Teacher Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026 Salary: $4,100 to $7,079 per month Purpose To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development. Responsibilities Management of Instructional Time: Use materials, supplies, and equipment ready at the start of each lesson; get the class started quickly; maintain a high level of student time‑on‑task. Management of Student Behavior: Establish rules and procedures for routine administrative matters, verbal participation, and movement; monitor behavior during whole‑class, small‑group, and seat‑work activities; stop inappropriate behavior promptly while maintaining dignity. Instructional Presentation: Begin each lesson with a review; introduce objectives; speak fluently; present concepts in an understandable manner; provide examples and demonstrations; assign tasks with high success; ask appropriate level questions; conduct lessons briskly; make smooth transitions; summarize main points at the end. Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: Maintain clear standards and due dates; circulate during class to check performance; use oral, written, and other work products for assessment; pose questions clearly one at a time. Instructional Feedback: Provide accurate feedback on in‑class and out‑of‑class work; affirm correct responses; give sustaining feedback after incorrect or no response by probing, repeating, or giving clues. Facilitating Instruction: Develop an instructional plan aligned with district goals; use diagnostic data to revise objectives; maintain accurate records of student performance; match learning strategies, assessment, and student needs; use available resources to support the program. Interacting Within the Educational Environment: Treat all students fairly; interact effectively with students, coworkers, parents, and the community. Performing Non‑Instructional Duties: Carry out non‑instructional duties as assigned; adhere to laws, policies, and regulations; follow a professional development plan and demonstrate growth. Additional Job Functions Performs other related work as required. Minimum Training and Experience Degree in education or a related area qualifying for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Minimum Qualifications Physical Requirements: Use various equipment and classroom tools; lift, carry, push, pull with negligible force; stand/walk consistently; requirements equivalent to Light Work. Data Conception: Compare, judge, and interpret functional or structural characteristics of data, people, or objects. Interpersonal Communication: Speak or signal to convey or exchange information; receive instructions from superiors. Language Ability: Read correspondence and reports; produce correspondence, reports, and instructional materials using prescribed format. Intelligence: Apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; interpret technical instructions; handle abstract and concrete variables. Verbal Aptitude: Record and deliver information; explain procedures; follow oral and written instructions; communicate in professional terminology. Numerical Aptitude: Utilize mathematical formulas; perform basic arithmetic and statistical calculations. Form/Spatial Aptitude: Inspect items for accurate dimensions. Motor Coordination: Coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately when using office equipment. Manual Dexterity: Handle tools and office equipment; maintain basic eye/hand/foot coordination. Color Discrimination: Differentiate between colors and shades. Interpersonal Temperament: Engage with people beyond instruction; adapt to stress and emergency situations. Physical Communication: Talk and hear; use telephone effectively. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Constantly monitor student safety and well‑being, especially during inclusive activities. Motivate students. Maintain a clean and orderly environment; perform general clerical duties. Maintain order and discipline in the classroom; operate common office machines. Maintain basic files and records. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by assignments.
