Laboratory Technician

Position Details Employment Type : Temporary - Full-time Hours per week : 40 Pay Rate : $12.00 per hour Location : McEniry Building, Department of the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences (Col) Responsibilities Produce sediment core logs for lakebed vibracores taken from coves along Lake Wylie. Process and conduct grain size analysis of total suspended material collected during high flow events in tributaries draining into Lake Wylie. Coordinate with County Stormwater personnel to schedule sample pick‑ups and maintain regular contact. Review monthly data with Dr. Allan or Dr. Hippensteel. Qualifications Reliable, dependable, with a valid driver’s license. Ability to work independently. Basic spreadsheet skills (desirable). Benefits and Eligibility Temporary staff employees are ineligible to receive standard benefits (leave, health coverage, State service credit, etc.) but are covered by Worker’s Compensation provisions. Non-permanent employees working 30 or more hours per week for a cumulative period of three months or more are eligible to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan within 30 days of eligibility. Temporary hourly workers with an FTE of 0.75+ or measured full-time and working more than 30 days are offered the high deductible health insurance. Temporary salaried workers with more than 30 days employment are reported as full-time and offered the high deductible health insurance.
