Accounts Payable SpecialistAccounts Payable Specialist | Overland Park, KS Contract-to-Hire | $24-28ph. LHH is working with a construction company seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join its accounting team. This role is responsible for processing high-volume invoices, maintaining vendor relationships, supporting project accounting functions, and ensuring accurate and timely payments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced working in a fast-paced construction environment.Key Responsibilities:Process and code vendor invoices accurately and efficientlyReview invoices for proper approvals, supporting documentation, and codingMatch invoices to purchase orders, contracts, and receive documents when applicableMaintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions and vendor filesPrepare weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfersReconcile vendor statements and research discrepanciesCommunicate with vendors regarding payment status and invoice issuesAssist with month-end closing activities, including AP accruals and reportingReview sales and use tax charges for accuracySupport project managers and operations teams by responding to invoice and payment inquiriesEnsure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting proceduresAssist with 1099 preparation and year-end reporting activitiesQualifications:2+ years of Accounts Payable experience, preferably within construction, engineering, contracting, or related industriesStrong understanding of full-cycle accounts payable processesExperience handling high-volume invoice processingKnowledge of purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, and job costing preferredProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systemsExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong problem-solving and communication abilitiesAbility to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentConstruction accounting experienceFamiliarity with job cost accountingUnderstanding of AIA billing, subcontractor documentation, and construction payment processesPay Details: $24.00 to $28.00 per hourSearch managed by: Claire GrossmanBenefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
