Job Details

• Location: Sacramento, CA 95826 (Sacramento healthcare, California mental health jobs)
• Setting: Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital (inpatient psychiatric hospital, behavioral health)
• Employment Type: Travel Contract (travel social worker, travel LCSW)
• Schedule: 8-hour day shifts, Friday through Tuesday (5 shifts per week)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Orientation: 16 hours
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,229 - $2,477 (competitive pay for LCSW, psychiatric social worker)
• Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Hospital Census: 55-65 patients; 73 beds
• EMR: EPIC (experience with EPIC preferred)

Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Active and unrestricted LCSW license in California (California LCSW jobs)
• Minimum 1 year psychiatric social work or behavioral health experience required
• Experience with 5150/involuntary holds strongly preferred (involuntary hold experience)
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary mental health team
• Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills (clinical documentation, case notes)
• Experience with case management, discharge planning, care coordination, and resource linkage

Clinical Responsibilities

• Complete intake and admission screenings and psychiatric intake assessments for new patients
• Participate in development and implementation of individualized treatment plans (care planning)
• Perform bio-psychosocial assessments and mini-mental state examinations (MMSE)
• Provide patient and family education, support, advocacy, and community resource referrals
• Facilitate group therapy, individual counseling, and crisis intervention (brief therapy, de-escalation)
• Coordinate care and discharge planning, including needs assessment and DME orders
• Document care delivery, treatment goals, and patient/caregiver education in EPIC
• Collaborate with internal and external team members (psychiatrists, nurses, case managers) to ensure continuity of care
• Support adult inpatient units with disposition planning and brief therapy contacts
