Paramedic I/II

The Paramedic I/II position provides advanced emergency medical services and rescue response in a fast-paced, high-risk environment under general supervision. Assigned to a 48-hour on/96-hour off schedule, incumbents work closely with a partner to deliver Basic and Advanced Life Support care in accordance with California State and ICEMA protocols. This role responds to a wide variety of emergencies, including medical incidents, traffic collisions, fire ground operations, and backcountry rescues requiring travel by foot, vehicle, or helicopter. Responsibilities include patient assessment and treatment, extrication, participation in technical rescues (including over-the-side and ice rescue), and coordination with partner agencies such as law enforcement, fire departments, and search and rescue teams. Incumbents must operate effectively in hazardous conditions, including inclement weather, road closures, and avalanche risk. Additional duties include accurate and timely completion of electronic patient care records, equipment and vehicle maintenance, and participation in public outreach, training, and interagency activities. Minimum Qualifications Paramedic I Successful completion of an Accredited Paramedic School. Ability to obtain possession of valid Paramedic accreditation from ICEMA prior to employment. Paramedic II All requirements listed above for Paramedic I and: Minimum of six months of previous full-time paramedic experience and a minimum of six months of employment with Mono County as a Paramedic-I. Possession of valid Paramedic accreditation from ICEMA. Special Requirements Possession of a valid Paramedic License from the State of California. Possession of a valid Driver’s license. Possession of a valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) card from American Heart Association. Possession of a valid Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS) card from American Heart Association, American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR card or equivalent. Possession of a valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) card from American Heart Association. ICS and NIMS training:ICS-100b, 200b, IS-700a, IS-800b.
