This hospital-based laboratory facility seeks locum tenens pathologist support to maintain diagnostic services in Des Moines, Iowa. The facility operates with standard pathology laboratory equipment and provides both cytopathology and surgical pathology services to support clinical decision-making. The pathology department is supported by dedicated laboratory technicians and administrative staff.

Des Moines, Iowa offers a range of attractions suited to varied interests. The area features the Pappajohn Sculpture Park, the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, Blank Park Zoo, and the Science Center of Iowa. Clinicians on assignment may also explore over 800 miles of trails, water activities such as kayaking, the Downtown Farmers' Market, Adventureland theme and water park, and cultural venues covering science, history, and the arts, along with live music and festival events throughout the year.

The anatomic and clinical pathologist will provide diagnostic services focused on cytopathology and surgical pathology interpretation during Monday through Friday day shifts. The daily case volume consists of 20-30 surgical pathology cases or 10-20 cytopathology cases. The role excludes grossing procedures, frozen sections, bone marrow examinations, and autopsies, allowing the clinician to concentrate on diagnostic interpretation. No call coverage is required, and board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology is required for consideration.
