This role keeps complex commercial, real estate, employment, and regulatory disputes moving with precision so attorneys can focus on strategy and clients can see what is coming next. You will own the mechanics that turn a filing into a result.
Performance Objectives

• Build complete case files within the first two weeks of assignment, with pleadings, discovery, and key facts indexed so counsel can brief any matter without a scavenger hunt.
• Draft first-pass pleadings, discovery, motions, and correspondence that require limited revision and meet court and firm style standards.
• Calendar every deadline the day a matter opens, and keep zero missed filing, discovery, or statute dates across your docket.
• Manage document review and productions so privilege, confidentiality, and production logs are accurate before anything leaves the firm.
• Prepare trial and hearing binders, witness outlines, and exhibit lists early enough that counsel can rehearse, not scramble.
• Track matter status weekly and flag budget, staffing, or strategy risks before they become client surprises.
• Close each matter with a clean file, final cost summary, and lessons that improve the next case.

Environment & Resources

You will support litigators across a full-service practice, reporting to the litigation lead and coordinating with attorneys, legal assistants, and outside vendors. The desk includes standard litigation software, e-discovery tools, research platforms, and court e-filing systems, plus a defined matter budget you help protect. Work spans pleadings through trial and alternative dispute resolution, often with business clients who expect plain updates and tight control of cost.
Essential Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate or equivalent litigation experience, with a record of running active civil dockets.
• Proven ability to draft discovery, motions, and chronologies that attorneys file with modest edits.
• Fluency with e-filing, calendaring, and document-management systems used in state and federal practice.
• Judgment on privilege, confidentiality, and what must be escalated the same day.
• Comfort with numbers: billing narratives, cost estimates, and production volumes that hold up under review.
• Clear writing and calm client-facing communication under deadline pressure.
