Exceptional Child Bus Monitors (2026-2027) - Transportation Department

Join Us for the 2026-2027 School Year

Ride a school bus for exceptional children and assist school bus driver in maintaining discipline while bus is in operation; operate mechanical lift. Assist students with loading and unloading.

Hours: 6.5 to 8 hours per day - depending on route (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)

Contract Length: 178 days per year

• 170 student instructional days
• 4 holidays
• 4 extended days

Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date

Employment Status: Full-time with benefits

Employment Type: 10-month employee on the classified pay schedule

Qualifications & Requirements

• • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.

Compensation & Experience Credit

Salary for the 2026-2027 school year will be based on Board approved salary schedule.

2025-2026 Pay Scale

• Starting Pay (Step 0): $16.37/hour
• Experienced Pay (Step 10): $20.16/hour

We value experience! Previous experience working with students, intervention systems, and small-group instruction is strongly desired.

New hires may bring up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.

• The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.

Payroll Note: While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.
