Director of Software Engineering, Content & Experimentation

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 10+ years of applied experience and 5+ years leading technologists through complex technical challenges.
• Experience building or leading cross-functional technology teams.
• Experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
• Experience leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering practices using enterprise-authorized tools, including setting human validation and quality expectations, measuring outcomes, and securely handling sensitive inputs and outputs.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use and engineering controls, including data sensitivity, security, resilience, and governance, with the ability to influence safe scaling and reuse.
• Practical cloud-native experience.
• Expertise in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on leadership designing and operating content delivery and experimentation capabilities, such as feature flags, A/B testing, rollout strategies, targeting, and personalization, in a multi-team environment.
• Strong AWS knowledge for building and operating scalable platforms, including networking, compute, storage, security, observability, resilience, and cost management.
• Experience defining operating models for product-facing engineering platforms, including intake, prioritization, self-service enablement, reliability targets, runbooks, and on-call practices.
• Strong understanding of API-first and event-driven architectures for integrating content and experimentation services with downstream channels and product applications.
• Preferred: Experience engaging with third parties to assess and integrate their capabilities.
• Preferred: Experience coaching individuals and managers, growing careers, and developing high-performing teams.
• Preferred: Experience operating software platforms and strong understanding of AWS services and infrastructure.

• Lead technology and process implementations that achieve functional technology objectives.
• Make decisions affecting team resources, budgets, tactical operations, and the execution of processes and procedures.
• Set direction and governance for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation, improving delivery speed, quality, and operational outcomes while establishing controls for validation, security, resilience, traceability, and reuse.
• Apply software development lifecycle tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase automation value and support capacity initiatives at scale.
• Govern coding decisions, control obligations, and success measures such as ownership cost, maintainability, and portfolio operations.
• Deliver technical solutions that can be used across multiple businesses and domains.
• Influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
• Own engineering strategy and execution for a Content and Experimentation platform that supports scalable content delivery, targeting, personalization, and rapid experimentation.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data/Analytics, and Marketing stakeholders to define platform roadmaps, SLAs/SLOs, and measurable outcomes.
• Establish experimentation governance, including guardrails, statistical rigor, auditability, policy-aligned controls, and standard approaches to feature flags, A/B/n testing, and rollouts.
• Drive cloud-native platform delivery on AWS, focusing on reliability, performance, cost optimization, observability, incident response, secure-by-design practices, and reusable capabilities.
