Staff Accountant

Our current client base is concentrated in the construction industry, and we serve businesses in adjacent industries as well. The Role We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join Injala's finance team and grow into ownership of our core accounting operations. Today, our day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting support is handled by an external accounting partner. This role will start by working alongside them and our SVP, Finance to learn Injala's books, processes, and systems, with the expectation that you will take on increasing ownership of billing, general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, tax filings, and related accounting functions over time, ultimately becoming the primary owner of these responsibilities. This is a hands-on role suited to someone early in their accounting career who wants to build real depth across the full accounting function, not just one narrow piece of it, and who is comfortable communicating directly with vendors, internal stakeholders, and outside partners.[AE1] This is a perfect opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a quickly growing company revolutionizing the insurance industry. Responsibilities Billing & Accounts Receivable Collect and validate billing data ahead of each cycle, and own customer invoicing across monthly, quarterly, annual, and special billing cycles Maintain revenue schedules aligned with contract terms, including deferred revenue tracking and recognition over the contract term Manage weekly AR aging and follow up on overdue invoices Handle write-off and bad debt provisioning Maintain the general ledger with monthly postings, and prepare monthly financials Post bank and credit card transactions weekly, and complete full bank and credit card reconciliations monthly Prepare journal entries for accruals, deferrals, prepaid expenses, amortization, depreciation, and revenue recognition adjustments Prepare deferred revenue and prepaid expense schedules, and monthly intercompany and other journal entries Prepare monthly close deliverables, including the GL trial balance, balance sheet reconciliations, deferred revenue schedule, and supporting journal entry documentation Maintain the historical sales data sheet and support monthly cash flow forecasting Record vendor bills weekly and process AP payments on request Manage approval workflows and payment scheduling, and categorize expenses by cost center, department, and product line Own vendor payments and vendor portal management Payroll Prepare payroll journal entries, bonus and commission accruals, and employer tax and benefit accruals Tax & State Compliance Prepare and file monthly state sales and use tax returns Manage state business registration and related compliance filings as Injala expands into new states Client & Cross-Functional Communication Serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders and external parties, including auditors, tax authorities, and vendors, on accounting questions Partner with the SVP, Finance and leadership team to ensure accounting policies and reporting standards are followed consistently Work alongside our accounting partner during the transition period and take full ownership of these functions as you ramp up Qualifications Required: 1-2 years of accounting experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Working knowledge of GAAP, general ledger maintenance, AP/AR, payroll accounting, and month-end close processes Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) Strong attention to detail, high level of accuracy, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate professionally across teams and levels. Ability to analyze financial data, identify variances, and prepare clear, accurate reports for management and external stakeholders. Nice to Have (but not required): CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification Experience with sales tax filings and multi-state business registration SaaS or subscription revenue recognition experience Experience with multi-entity or intercompany accounting Why Join Us?
