Accounting Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Goleta, CA. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting and administrative professional who enjoys supporting day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and helping a team stay organized and efficient.

The Accounting Assistant will support core accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, reconciliations, filing, and general administrative support. This is a strong opportunity for someone with 3-5 years of experience who is looking for long-term potential, a professional office environment, and the chance to contribute to a collaborative accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, including invoice entry, payment support, and customer or vendor follow-up.
- Maintain accurate financial records through data entry, filing, document tracking, and account updates.
- Support bank, credit card, vendor, and internal account reconciliations as needed.
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and accounting documentation for review by management or accounting staff.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries related to billing, payments, invoices, and account information.
- Provide general administrative and clerical support to help keep accounting operations organized and on schedule.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay range: $22 to $27 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and payment processing.
- Maintain accurate accounting records, spreadsheets, files, and documentation.
- Assist with reconciliations, reporting, and general accounting administration.
- Communicate professionally with vendors, customers, and internal team members.

- 3-5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, administrative accounting, or related office experience.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering, reviewing, and organizing financial information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, spreadsheets, email, and standard office technology.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain organized records.
- Professional communication skills and a dependable, team-oriented work style.
- Basic understanding of accounting processes such as invoices, payments, credits, reconciliations, and account maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, or bookkeeping platforms.
- Prior experience supporting both accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and basic reporting.
- Experience in a professional office, finance, accounting, or administrative support environment.
