Accounts Payable Specialist

Accounts Payable Specialist Opportunity at MICA We are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Finance & Accounting team. This role manages the full accounts payable function, from vendor invoices and regulatory reporting to compliance and cross-functional accounting support. What You’ll Do Process vendor invoices, claim-related payments, premium refunds, and operational expenses in accordance with company policies Prepare and execute payments via ACH, wire transfer, and check Maintain vendor records, onboarding documentation, and W-9s Conduct vendor risk assessments and ensure OFAC screening compliance Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries Manage payable system maintenance including data transfers, user access, and payment types Regulatory & Compliance Reporting Prepare and file 1099 reporting with the IRS Perform escheatment research and reporting ahead of state deadlines Prepare use/sales tax reports accurately and on schedule Process commission payments and policyholder deductible transactions General Accounting & Cross-Functional Support Reconcile and substantiate financial transactions with proper documentation Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities Assist with audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests Provide cross-functional backup for Accounts Receivable as needed Identify and bring forward opportunities to improve AP processes and internal controls What We’re Looking For 3–5 years of accounts payable or accounting experience; insurance or highly regulated industry experience is a plus Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data validation) Experience with accounting systems; Sage Intacct experience is a plus Familiarity with 1099 reporting, OFAC screening, or vendor risk management preferred Exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership over your work Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines Clear, professional communication and a collaborative approach to working across departments High level of discretion when handling sensitive financial information What We Offer Day 1 benefits, including comprehensive insurance with low deductibles 401(k) with company match up to 6% Pension plan Tuition reimbursement up to $5,250 per year MICA is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr MICA
