Senior People Business Partner (Alternatives) at Alpha FMC Division: Business Operations Function: People (HR, Recruitment, Learning) Location: New York Overview of Business Operations While consultants focus on delivering client value, our 'Business Operations' function ensures that the company runs efficiently and appropriately across a number of operational areas: Finance, People, Operations, IT, and Legal, Risk & Compliance. Together, these teams support the consultants, enabling delivery and empowering Alpha’s long‑term success. ‘People’ at Alpha covers all parts of the employee lifecycle – including Recruitment, HR and Learning. Role & Requirements We are investing in a Senior People Business Partner aligned to our Alternatives division. Key Responsibilities Leadership Engagement Engage directly with senior leaders as a trusted business partner. Have a ‘seat at the table’ to facilitate the business vision and define the people agenda. People Strategy Definition Analyze people data to identify trends, strengths and gaps across recruitment, HR and learning. Define, iterate and drive the strategy across the people agenda – answering key questions such as employer value proposition, talent attraction, development and retention. Drive strategic improvements across the employee lifecycle. Partner with the Finance Business Partner to ensure recommendations are commercially relevant and executable. Key Processes Management Drive and oversee annual business‑as‑usual processes, including: Talent Acquisition: year‑end and mid‑year planning and budgeting. HR: year‑end and mid‑year job evaluation, compensation planning and goal setting. Strategic Project Management Lead or oversee initiatives covering: Strategic Workforce & Talent Planning – develop and implement workforce strategies aligned to business plans, anticipate future skills and capacity, and partner on headcount growth and recruitment priorities. Performance, Reward & Retention Strategy – partner with finance to evolve reward frameworks, assess benchmarks, recommend to leadership and the board, identify risks and develop interventions. Employee Engagement – drive initiatives to foster a positive work culture, improve retention, leverage survey data to recommend action plans. Leadership Development & Succession Planning – coach senior leaders, monitor emerging talent, lead succession planning and oversee senior leadership transitions. Capability Development & Learning – design and deliver training frameworks, review and evolve career frameworks. People related matters evolving with AI and other emerging technologies. Organizational Design & Growth Enablement – advise on team structures, spans of control, operating models, and post‑acquisition integration. Contractor management – ensure efficient sourcing, onboarding and commercial visibility. People Delivery Team – Mobilization and Optimization Mobilize recruitment and HR teams responsible for execution. Monitor service quality and performance, resolve issues. Build productive relationships with wider Business Operations teams. Act as senior lead, drive effectiveness, culture, and coach team members. Senior Leadership Reporting Prepare people reports for senior leadership, board and group leadership on reward, retention, planning, development and strategic projects. People Communications Design and execute communications related to organizational change, compensation, and new policies. Leadership, Mentoring & Oversight Provide oversight and mentoring to the People Business Partner (Alternatives) role. Qualifications Must have: 10+ years’ HR or recruitment experience, with 3–5 years in a strategic cross‑people business partnering or relationship management role. Proven ability to influence and advise senior leaders on people strategy and organizational design. Strong experience in talent attraction and management, succession planning and leadership development. Demonstrated capability in post‑acquisition integration, change management and cultural alignment. University degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant discipline. Certification such as CIPD 7, SHRM‑SCP or equivalent. Excellent communication, analytical, teamwork and stakeholder management skills. Good to have: Experience within a consulting firm – ideally in Financial Services or Management and Technology Consulting in the Alternatives industry. Exposure to global or matrixed organisations with complex stakeholder environments. Location and Working Pattern Office‑based in New York, aligned with the Business Head. Requires 2–3 days per week in the office, with flexibility based on business needs.
