Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Division of Hematology and Oncology

Job Overview Full-time (100% FTE) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology‑Oncology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The role supports the university’s mission by providing comprehensive, continuous, personalized care to patients with malignant hematology and medical oncology conditions. The individual will also deliver patient and family education and participate in teaching activities for students, residents, and fellows. Essential Functions Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of patients. Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests. Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities. Monitor the effectiveness of interventions. Maintain accurate medical records. Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team to deliver care and make appropriate referrals when needed. Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans. Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision‑making using evidence‑based practice. Participate in research and development projects. Participate in education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students, and medical students. Perform related duties based on departmental need. Nurse Practitioner Qualifications Required Education: Master’s degree in nursing and graduation from an accredited nursing program. Required Trainings/Certifications: Current/valid APRN license to practice in Ohio with prescriptive authority; active board certification in the appropriate nursing specialty. Required Experience: At least three (3) years of nursing experience. Physician Assistant Qualifications Required Education: Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC‑PA) or its predecessor. Required Trainings/Certifications: Current/valid PA license to practice in Ohio; certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Required Experience: Minimum of one (1) year PA experience. Additional Qualifications Considered 2–3 years of experience working and treating patients with Hematology‑Oncology related health issues. Comfortable conducting shared medical appointments. Comfortable with public speaking and presenting in front of large groups. Enjoy being part of a multidisciplinary team.
