Accounts Payable Analyst

JOB SUMMARY The Accounts Payable (AP) Analyst in the construction industry is responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of vendor invoices, subcontractors, and project-related expenses. This role requires a strong understanding of construction accounting practices, including job costing, contract compliance, lien waivers, and subcontractor documentation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Process high-volume invoices for vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers with accuracy and timeliness Review and verify invoices against purchase orders, contracts, and project budgets Ensure proper coding of expenses to jobs, cost codes, and general ledger accounts Manage subcontractor payments, including tracking and collecting lien waivers, insurance certificates, and compliance documents Coordinate with project managers and procurement teams to resolve invoice discrepancies Prepare and execute weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments Maintain accurate AP records and ensure proper documentation for audits Monitor aging reports and address outstanding liabilities Assist with month-end close, including accruals and reconciliations Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant construction regulations TEAM VERITAS Attend and participate in scheduled meetings. Support cross functional team initiatives. Serve as brand ambassador of Veritas; Create and develop excellent relationships with key contacts Participate in Veritas CARES community events when possible. Balance team and individual responsibilities; give and welcome feedback, contribute to building positive team spirit; put the success of the team above own interests. Willingness to perform any and all duties as assigned by leadership to support the team; respectful attitude and professional approach to leadership decisions. Participate in events and any other activities defined and required by leadership. REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 2+ years of accounts payable experience, preferably in construction or a related industry Strong knowledge of job costing, subcontractor billing, and construction compliance requirements Familiarity with lien waivers, W-9s, and 1099 reporting Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook), and with accounting software, QuickBooks preferred. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication and problem-solving skills Construction industry experience is highly preferred due to the complexity of subcontractor management, compliance requirements, and job costing structures Analytical and detail-oriented mindset Accountability and accuracy in financial processing Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with project and finance teams Integrity and confidentiality in handling financial data Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, or as part of a team. Interpersonal/Communication/Writing Skills - Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully (written and oral) with customers and stakeholders as well as fellow team members; objective and open to other views; welcomes feedback. Professional approach with unquestionable integrity, credibility, and character; demonstrate high moral and ethical behavior. Continually required to sit, listen, talk and utilize hands and fingers with dexterity. Frequently required to stand, walk, and bend. Occasionally required to stoop or kneel.
