Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Fully Remote must be within 30 miles of Ft Myers.
Pay Rate: $25.00 - $26.49 per hour
Work Schedule: Standard Shift (Must be flexible for demanding month-end close schedules and potential overtime)


Overview of the Job


The Staff Accountant plays a key role in the financial close process, taking ownership of routine accounting activities, monthly journal entries, complex account reconciliations, and audit support. Operating in a fast-paced environment with strict close deadlines, this role is responsible for reconciling global Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounts, analyzing cost schedules, investigating financial anomalies, and ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This position is 100% remote within the United States.


Job Specifications


Primary Responsibilities
• Execute routine accounting activities and lead key aspects of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes under demanding schedules.
• Prepare and maintain detailed schedules to track costs, ensuring accurate balance calculations and timely posting of monthly journal entries.
• Perform thorough reconciliations for a variety of global Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounts.
• Investigate account anomalies, identify root causes, and implement solutions to strengthen internal controls and processes.
• Support payroll-related accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and benefits-related account reconciliations.
• Fully support internal and external audits by gathering, preparing, and verifying required data and documentation.
• Prepare financial analyses and detailed reports for management and business units to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to resolve accounting issues and streamline business workflows.
• Identify process inefficiencies, driving continuous improvement through the development and documentation of new operational controls.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Core Accounting Knowledge : Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), journal entries, corporate audits, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills : Proficiency in complex Excel functions (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas) alongside experience using standard accounting software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and prioritization abilities to handle shifting priorities, fast-paced environments, and demanding month-end close timelines.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fully remote environment.


Preferred Qualifications
• Corporate accounting experience is a strong plus.
• Specialized experience handling payroll, benefits, or cross-functional corporate finance accounts.


Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
