Job Title: Production Worker – Artisan Cheese Manufacturing (AM Shift)

Job Description

This role supports a handcrafted cheese production operation by performing physically demanding material handling and general production tasks on an early morning shift. You work as part of a small team to produce high-quality handmade cheese, consistently lifting and moving heavy cheese wheels, following recipes, and maintaining strict food manufacturing and GMP standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform general production and material handling tasks in a handcrafted cheese manufacturing environment.
• Lift, carry, and move cheese wheels weighing approximately 40–60 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Handle and move large quantities of product, ensuring careful and efficient transfer of cheese wheels and materials.
• Follow established recipes and production procedures to support consistent, high-quality cheese making.
• Apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and adhere to FDA regulations at all times during production activities.
• Label products accurately and consistently according to production and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with food manufacturing standards.
• Work a 3:00 AM–1:00 PM shift on a schedule of four 10-hour days that includes at least one weekend day.
• Adapt to changing production needs and working conditions, including variations in tasks, pace, and schedule.
• Collaborate with an energetic and positive team, supporting a safe and productive work environment.

Essential Skills

• Ability to lift and carry 40–60 pounds consistently throughout a full shift.
• Experience or comfort with very physical labor and repetitive material handling tasks.
• Ability to follow rules and procedures, including strict adherence to GMP and serious cheese manufacturing practices.
• Capability to follow recipes and production instructions accurately.
• Flexibility in working conditions, including schedule variations and weekend shifts.
• Reliability for early morning shifts (3:00 AM–1:00 PM).
• Attention to detail in labeling and handling food products.
• Commitment to maintaining food safety and quality standards under FDA and GMP regulations.

• Previous experience in production, general labor, or food manufacturing environments is beneficial.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly physical setting where demands may be underestimated by new workers.
• Willingness to learn artisan cheese-making techniques through professional training.

• Openness to flexible scheduling within a four 10-hour day workweek that includes a weekend day.

Work Environment

The role is based in a busy downtown market setting and involves working in a highly physical, hands-on food manufacturing environment. Shifts run from 3:00 AM to 1:00 PM on a schedule of four 10-hour days that always includes at least one weekend day, with some flexibility in specific days worked. The work is demanding, and many people underestimate its physical intensity, so comfort with heavy lifting and sustained manual labor is essential. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.55 - $23.55/hr.
