Librarian

Librarian Compensation: $27 per hour, maximum 28 hours per week. Official transcripts required prior to employment. Recommended candidates will be subject to pre-employment screenings. Triton College is an AA/EOE. This position may require evening hours, based on library needs. Qualifications Education: Master’s degree of Library and Information Science from an ALA-approved program. Experience: Previous experience working in a library providing reference services or research support. Skills: Excellent customer service skills, demonstrated in person, over the phone, and online. Experience with integrated library systems, discovery platforms, and public printing technologies used in academic libraries, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems as needed. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a contributing team member. Knowledge of the Library of Congress Classification (Call Number) System. Demonstrated commitment to civility, equity, and inclusion when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities Recommend, interpret, evaluate, and use information resources to assist students and patrons with specific assignments and research needs. Provide research guidance and instruction using the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. Support collection development activities and evaluation of library materials, as assigned. Participate in departmental projects, initiatives, and programming activities. Perform other duties as assigned in support of Library Services and institutional goals.
