Before School Shifts | 6:45 a – 9:00 a After School Shifts | 3:00 p – 6:00 p School-Year Only Aide / Assistant Group Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

A Child’s Place – Downingtown School-Aged Program is seeking part-time, on-site, Before and After School Teachers who will be responsible for the supervision and care of our school-aged children in grades Kindergarten through 5th. This is a highly collaborative role working closely with our established team of teachers. Our Before and After School teams work at one of Downingtown’s 11 Elementary Schools to provide fun, age-appropriate activities and games to keep children busy while awaiting the start of the school day or pick-up. A typical before/after school program consists of arts & crafts, STEM projects, outdoor time, gym time (if the space is available) and homework assistance if needed. Our teachers are also responsible for building positive, professional relationships with our parents and families to support open and continuous communication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. snack time, group or individual activities, playground activities, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment Assist with organizing and monitoring appropriate activities for school aged children Submit monthly plans, supply lists, and newsletters by the assigned due dates Provide constant, supportive, effective, and professional communication with co-workers, parents, and children Implement positive methods of discipline and guidance to students

EDUCATIONAL / EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 18 or older – Required High School Diploma – Required Associate’s Degree or Higher in Elementary Education / Early Grades Prep / Special Education / Early Childhood Education / Early Childhood Development or Human Services related field (such as Psychology, Child Psychology, Social Work, Nursing) – Preferred 2 years of documentable experience working with children – Preferred Ability to successfully pass and maintain all background/clearance checks. Maintain an employee file in accordance with DHS and ACP regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Lift up to 40 lbs. Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping. Climb up and down stairs. Have the mobility required to ensure the safety of the children. Work with children on the floor. Work outdoors in any variety of weather. Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of children with DHS licensing safety requirements. Perform light duty cleaning. Light typing and word processing.

SALARY:

$15.00 – $17.00 Starting Starting rate is contingent upon proof of education credentials and verified experience working with children.
