Locum - Physician Assistant (PA) - Surgery - Cardiothoracic

**Position Overview:** - **Profession/Specialty:** Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.

**Coverage Dates:** - Beginning 9/8/2026 at 7 AM through 9/18/2026, with potential adjustments based on locum coverage availability. - Ongoing need for 1 to 2 weeks of coverage per month until 2027.

**Work Schedule:** - **Monday to Friday:** 8 AM - 5 PM; on-call responsibilities from 3 PM - 7 AM.

- **Weekend Coverage:** 24-hour onsite support with floor call or OR call.

**Call Requirements:** - **Call Type:** In-house and beeper/phone call.

- **Call Ratio:** Provider will be on call during the assignment.

- **Average Call Back Hours:** Approximately 10 hours during weekends.

**Provider Needs:** - **Number of Providers Required:** 1

- **Reason for Coverage:** Service growth in the department.

**Practice Setting:** - Primarily inpatient/hospital-based environment.

*Leadership and Teaching:** - Potential to supervise and teach.

**Patient Demographics:** - Adult and geriatric populations. - Inpatient focus with an average patient load of 20-26 per day. - Trauma Level Designation: 2.

**Required Skills and Duties:** - Post-operative care for a diverse range of cardiothoracic and vascular surgical patients. - Conduct emergency surgeries in the cardiothoracic and vascular surgery areas.

- Manage consults and referrals from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other hospital providers.

- Proficient in vein harvesting during cardiac surgery.

- Assist in surgical procedures.

- Write prescriptions and coordinate patient care.

- Conduct patient rounding and interpret diagnostic tests.

- Order necessary tests, including retrieval of vascular tissues for bypass conduit use.

**EMR/Documentation:** - Utilization of Epic for documentation and patient management.

**Shift Details:** - Standard hours: Mon-Fri, 8 AM - 5 PM, with floor call from 3 PM - 7 AM, and on-call duties over weekends.

**Mandatory Job Requirements:**

- Board certification in Vascular Surgery (required).

- Active Ohio medical license (no candidates needing to obtain a license).

- Current ACLS certification (required).

- Active DEA registration (required).

- Clean background with no malpractice or license issues (non-negotiable).

- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery services (required).

**Certification and License Requirements:** - Must hold licensure in Ohio.
